TYPES OF GIFTS
The Foundation will readily accept cash, certificates of deposit, and publicly traded securities such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs. With prior approval from the Board, or the Board’s designee, the Foundation will accept gifts of life insurance policies, real estate, non-publicly traded securities. collectibles, or tangible personal property.
GIFTS DURING LIFE
Some members may prefer to make gifts to the Foundation during their lives. This affords them the opportunity to craft and observe how their gifts are achieving their Christian giving priorities and furthering the ministries of Mountain Brook Baptist Church. Multiple strategies exist under the tax laws which may enhance giving during life, some of which may involve the ability to continue personally benefiting from a gift. Your financial and legal advisors can discuss with you the merits of these options.
GIFTS AT DEATH
Designating the Mountain Brook Baptist Church/James D. Moebes Foundation to receive a gift at your death is a popular method of giving to the foundation. It is a statement you make to future generations of the importance of leaving a Christian legacy. You may designate a particular asset you own, a specific dollar amount, or a percentage or portion of your estate as a gift to the foundation. The options are varied on how to accomplish this gift, so you should work with your financial and legal advisors to determine your best strategy.
