Meet Our New Members: The Wall Family
| Meet Our New Member | Mary Splawn

Have you met the Wall family? Mary Ellen (Mel) and Kevin Wall joined our church on June 21. They have three children: John Harper, Annie, and Watson. We hope you'll get to know them a little better through this latest "Meet Our New Member" blog, and that you'll have the chance to connect with them one Sunday in worship.
Tell us about your family. We started dating at Mountain Brook High School and married right out of college. Wayne officiated our wedding in 2013! Mel was a nurse at Children's of AL in the NICU for nine years before welcoming our first child, John Harper. He is four years old and we have also been blessed with Annie (age two) and Watson (age one). We have an 11-year-old golden retriever named Charlie. Kevin works in financial technology for Moodys and Mel stays home full time. We are thrilled to have joined Mountain Brook Brook Baptist.
Where did you work or go to school? Kevin went to Auburn and Mel went to Alabama, but we are Georgia fans! Our children attend the half-day program at the ELC and the Pre-K program at Brookwood Forest.
What led you to Mountain Brook Baptist Church? When we had our children, we felt the Lord pulling us back to Mountain Brook Baptist, where Kevin had been a member and we visited as newlyweds. We were already forming relationships with families from the ELC and Kevin's parents are longtime members. Dr. Splawn was the youth minister when Kevin was younger, officiated our wedding, and has dedicated all of our children to the Lord. We were thrilled when he was appointed Senior Minister and loved that we could be so "known" here. We bought a home in Mountain Brook and felt the Lord was pulling at our heart to get more involved at Mountain Brook Baptist. We feel so welcomed every time we walk in the doors here and can feel God's love in the way the members look out for one another. It very much feels like coming "home!"
What is your favorite Bible verse and praise song? One of our favorite Bible verses is Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now to him who is able to do immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." We have been so greatly blessed by God's goodness and could never have imagined the blessings we have received. We look forward to sharing our testimony about how God has always been with us, even in times of great trial, and has gives us more than we could ever imagine. Our favorite praise song is "How Deep the Father's Love."
What are some of your hobbies and interests? Kevin loves Georgia football and playing outside with the children. Mel loves to go on walks, cook, and sew children's clothes (when time allows).
What is a fun fact other people may not know about you? We name our dogs after characters from The Mighty Ducks franchise. Gunner (Team Iceland from MD2) and Charlie (Team Captain Charlie Conway).
