Have you met Kelly Bagby? Kelly joined our church on Sunday, July 20. We hope you'll get to know her a little better through this latest "Meet Our New Member" blog, and that you'll have the chance to connect with her one Sunday in worship.
Tell us about your family. I am married and have a son, daughter-in-law, and grandson.
Where do you work? I retired from teaching in 2022.
What led you to Mountain Brook Baptist Church? My son, Michael, was hired as the "audio guy" in Fall 2023. I visited the church several times for holidays and special events when he was working. I realized MBBC was becoming "home" during the time the worship services were in the gym while the Sanctuary was being renovated. The sense of community and genuine connection with people is what led me to join MBBC.
What are your favorite Bible verses and favorite hymn? My favorite verses are in John 10:14-15 where Jesus says, "I am the Good Shepherd, and I know my own and my own know me, even as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep." My favorite hymn is "In Christ Alone (My Hope is Found)". The basis for my relationship with God through Christ is in what he did for me that I could never have done for myself. I am so grateful and so humbled!
What are some of your hobbies and interests? I enjoy spending time with my family and friends most of all! Some of my favorite activities include camping, visiting amusement parks, playing board games and Mahjong, eating at favorite restaurants, watching game shows, and relaxing in my rocking chair on my porch.
What is a fun fact other people may not know about you? My first vehicle as a licensed driver was a motorcycle!
