Pastor's Blog: Home Stretch
| Meet Our New Member | Dr. Wayne Splawn
I am in currently in my fourth year serving as the Senior Minister of Mountain Brook Baptist Church. From the moment the congregation chose me to fill this important role in the life of our church, I knew a building project would be a significant part of my work for the foreseeable future. The beginning of the project goes back to 2016 when our church participated in a visioning process we called “Vision 2020.” That effort resulted in a plan to enhance our physical plant to make ministry possible well into the future. Little did we know the project would be halted when the Covid-19 pandemic hit and disrupted every facet of our lives.
Now, some nine years since the beginning of the Vision 2020 process, we are nearing the completion of the Renewal Building Project. I am so grateful to every person who has dedicated countless hours and has given sacrificially to help this project become a reality. Lord willing, we will complete the project on August 26 and gather for a special Combined Worship Service on Sunday, September 7 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the Lord’s faithfulness to us throughout this historic project and recognize the efforts of many people who have filled significant leadership roles.
However, we have not crossed the finish line yet. We still need to collect money toward the project. As you know, many of us made a five-year financial pledge to the project and we have been blessed to see so many give faithfully. As we approach the completion of the project, we hope to collect approximately $500,000 toward the Renewal Building Project by Sunday, September 7. I am asking you to consider donating by September 7. If you can complete your pledge or make a gift towards your pledge before that date, it would be very helpful to the church. If you have made a five-year pledge and are not able to accelerate your giving, then know that we are grateful for your continued support in the days ahead. If you started attending the church after we completed the capital campaign, there is still time to contribute to a project that will continue to impact the ministry of our church for many years to come. You can make a gift online here.
Serving as your pastor is one of the great privileges and joys of my life and I am grateful the Lord has given me the opportunity to be a part of this congregation. I look forward to us completing the Renewal Building Project and feel great excitement for all the Lord has for us to experience in the days and years ahead.
