Foundation Moments: Uncomfortable Planning

 |  Foundation Moments  |  Baker Crow

We all tend to ignore or delay planning for those days when life will be more difficult. Having those awkward conversations with children or aging relatives is challenging yet necessary. We struggle with where to begin. How do you initiate such uncomfortable conversations? What should be discussed? What tasks need to be completed? What are the resources available to help me?

The leadership of ACTIVE Christian Living and the Board of the Mountain Brook Baptist Church/James D. Moebes Foundation recognize the importance of these conversations, so they’ve partnered to host a lunch where a tool will be demonstrated to help guide those conversations. That tool is called AgeReady. This interactive software helps families assess four vital areas of an individual’s life: Medical, Legal/Financial, Social, and Spiritual. Ethan Asters, Executive Director of the James Houston Center for Faith & Successful Aging, will demonstrate the software and answer questions. Also, Don and Cindy Moore, members of our church, will demonstrate their software, Senioridy, which provides senior living options if that is identified during completing the AgeReady process as an issue needing to be addressed.

The lunch will be on May 28, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. in Heritage Hall. The cost is $10 per person for lunch. You may register and pay on Realm here, or you may call the church office to make your reservation. Please contact Pat Ferguson (pferg@mindspring.com) directly if you want to attend the presentation without making a reservation for a meal, so we will know how many to expect.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about how AgeReady can assist you and your family with this uncomfortable planning process. You’ll experience peace of mind in having a plan in place when those difficult days arrive.
