Churchwide Updates: Ethan McVay Accepts a New Role Here at MBBC
| Churchwide Updates | Dr. Wayne Splawn
I am excited to inform you that Ethan McVay has accepted a new role here at Mountain Brook Baptist Church. Ethan will begin serving as our Family and Administrative Minister on August 2, 2026. In this new role, Ethan will continue to minister to children, students, preteens, and families by providing overall direction and supervision for our Children’s and Student Ministry. Additionally, Ethan will use his strong administrative and organizational skills to oversee important areas such as building maintenance and facility usage.
As Ethan transitions into his new role, our Children and Student Ministries are well-equipped to navigate this transition seamlessly. Sharon Howard and Wendy Calvert will assume responsibility for our Preteen Ministry. Joel Burks will have the support of three Beeson Divinity School students (Ada Burris, Reagan Welch, and Thomas Oliver) serving as Student Ministry Residents this fall and next spring.
Please join me in congratulating Ethan as he begins a new season of ministry at MBBC!
"I love our children, preteens, students, and families, and I am grateful that this new role will allow me to continue serving and supporting these ministries in a different way. This new position will help strengthen the partnership between our Children’s and Student Ministries while also providing administrative support and organization for our ministerial staff. As our church continues to grow, I am so excited to dedicate my effort to helping our ministries flourish and work together even more effectively."
