The Mountain Brook Baptist Early Learning Center STARS 5K program offers to its students a learning environment that focuses on the Spiritual, Mental, Physical, Social and Emotional aspects of each individual child while providing loving, Christ-centered care. Children enrolled in STARS, although eligible to attend Kindergarten based on their age, are not yet ready to enter a traditional Kindergarten setting. Our goal is to provide one more year in a preschool environment to allow each child more time to become fully prepared for Kindergarten.
Mrs. Melissa Whetstone is an excellent teacher who holds a Masters degree in Education and has 18 years of teaching experience in grades Pr-K to 4th. The class will enroll up to 12 children with an aide being hired to assist the teacher beyond 12. Children must be 5 years old by September 1st to enroll. The curriculum will work with the Mountain Brook School System and enlist the knowledge of several educational resources that will offer new and challenging academic activities. In addition, the children will have the opportunity to participate in chapel, music/movement, art, Spanish; several parent chaperoned field trips and extracurricular classes.
MBBC-ELC will offer STARS late August-May from 9:00-1:00p.m and Wednesday from 9:00-2:30pm. Extended day hours from 7:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. and a catered lunch option will be offered for an additional fee. The calendar will follow the Mountain Brook School System. Beginning November 2nd we will accept enrollment applications.
A priority status will apply: 1. Church members 2. ELC children currently enrolled 3. Siblings of ELC children currently enrolled 4. Community Tuition and Fees: STARS - 9:00a.m-1:00p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9:00a.m -2:30p.m. on Wednesday

*Parents who choose the 9:00 to 1:00/2:30 program can add a catered lunch to their child’s day for a monthly fee of $65.00.
*Parents can choose 7:00a.m.-9:00a.m drop in care and 1:00p.m.-6:00p.m drop in care for a fee of $10.00 per hour. Annual Registration (non-refundable/transferable)
