Through the ministry of the Preschool Choirs at Mountain Brook Baptist Church, we seek not only to provide a foundation for music learning, but also to provide a supplement to the Scriptural foundation which is being built in Sunday School each week.  Our  3, 4 and 5 year-olds learn through Bible stories and songs that God loves them and cares for them, that God is strong and powerful and is everywhere, that singing helps us praise God and thank Him for our blessings, that God wants us to share what we know about Him with others. Because we tend to remember things which we have sung very well, music in general and singing in particular are great tools for teaching children more about God.

Developmentally speaking, the children are learning basic musical concepts such as high/low, up/down, loud/soft, steady beat, fast/slow, long/short sounds.   Through the many songs that are sung, the children are learning the basics of good vocal skills.  They are also introduced to the music alphabet and to rudimentary music reading skills during these preschool years as preparation for the Graded Choir program.
