Doug's role, as Senior Minister, is to provide overall leadership for the church through preaching, administration, and pastoral care. He graduated from the University of Montevallo with a B.S. degree in Counseling and Guidance, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, with a Masters degree in Divinity, a Masters degree in Theology, and a Ph.D. in Christian Preaching.
Doug and his wife, Judy, have two children who live in the Jacksonville, FL area. He enjoys golf, reading, and going to movies with Judy.
CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR AND MINISTER OF EDUCATION
As the Church Administrator, Alvin works with a variety of ministries and organizations, as well as committees of the church. He also works with the Sunday morning adult classes. Alvin is the Staff representative with the Missions Committee of the church.
Alvin graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.A. degree in Economics, the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters degree in Divinity, and from Samford University with a EdD in Educational Leadership.
Alvin is married to Lennie and they have two children who live in the Birmingham area.
As the Associate Minister, Wayne works with Young Professionals, Young Marrieds, and our Associate Deacons. Wayne also preaches once a month in our Contemporary Worship Service and is a staff liaison for our Missions Committee. Wayne graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Computer Science (2001) and from Beeson Divinity School with a Masters of Divinity (2007).
Wayne is married to Mary and they have two children. Wayne enjoys reading, listening to good music, cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks and spending time with his family.
DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY MINISTRIES
Sharon has been with Mountain Brook Baptist Church since 1987. She is responsible for children from birth through the sixth grade. Growing up in Birmingham, Sharon was a member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church and became a Christian at eleven years of age during the Birmingham Billy Graham Crusade.
Before becoming a part of MBBC, Sharon was at Auburn University. She worked as the Interim Campus Minister and part-time Minister of Youth at First Baptist Church of Dadeville, Alabama. She and her husband, Larry, have been married for 16 years. Sharon enjoys cooking, traveling, playing tennis and anything Auburn!
Sharon has a B.S. Degree from Auburn University in Health and Recreation Administration and Health and Physical Education.
MINISTER TO STUDENTS
Hayden works with Junior and Senior High Students in her role as Minister to Students. She graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas with a B.A. degree in Biblical Studies and Communications. Hayden graduated in 2013 from Beeson Divinity School with a Master of Divinity degree. Hayden is married to Cody. Together they enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends. DR. JOE LEWIS
TEACHER IN RESIDENCE
Joe's role is to provide biblical studies on Wednesday evenings. Joe graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a B. A. degree and a degree in Secondary Education. He graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Divinity and Ph.D. degrees. His doctoral study was primarily in Old Testament.
Joe has two sons, one living in Connecticut and another in Delaware. He enjoys a weekly outing with a golf foursome of long standing and manages to keep a very high handicap.
DR. KELY HATLEY
MINISTER OF MUSIC AND SENIOR ADULTS
Kely's responsibilities include leadership in worship planning and the implementation and supervision of a fully graded music program designed to give God our highest praise. Hailing from the Birmingham area, he graduated from Gardendale High School. Kely is a graduate of Samford University for both his undergraduate degree in Music Education and his Master’s of Church Music degree. He also holds a DWS degree in Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, FL.
Kely and his wife, Lassie, have four children: Hudson, Hannah Grace, Caroline, and Sarah Cate. He enjoys music, running, watching his kids play soccer, and riding his motorcycle.

CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP LEADER
Stephen's role is to plan and lead weekend worship gatherings that connect worshipers in spirit and in truth to the ultimate Truth of Jesus Christ. Stephen comes to us from San Antonio, Texas where he served as the Music Director of Oak Hills Church under pastors Max Lucado and Randy Frazee. Stephen enjoys writing songs, watching baseball and being the husband to his wife, Carleigh, who is completing her Internal Medicine residency here in Birmingham.
